What is Public Policy?
Public policy refers to the broad area of government laws, regulations, court decisions and ordinances in response to public and real-world problems. Public policies are created and enacted typically by governmental systems, their representatives and public officials such as school administration bodies, city council members, county supervisors, etc. on behalf of the public oriented towards a goal or desired state, such as the solution to issues which affect the public at large.
Job Description
- Responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating legislation and policies
- Proposing and implementing suggestions to improve the effects of public policies
- Identifying legal drawbacks in public policies and recommending and implementing amendments
- Creating new ordinances/regulations to accomplish a particular goal benefitting and helping the public
