CBSE class 10, 12 practical examinations begin today

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday announced class 10 and 12 board examinations will begin from February 15.

For class 10 students, the examination would run till March 21, 2023 for students of class 12 the examination conclude on April 5, 2023.

The written exams will consist of 80 marks whereas the internal assessments or practicals will account for the remaining 20.

Releasing the date sheet, the board said sufficient gap has been given between two subjects, and other factors such as competitive entrance tests like JEE Mains have also been taken into account while deciding the dates. The examination is scheduled to begin at 10.30 am and continue till 1.30 a.m.

The datesheet has been prepared by avoiding nearly 40,000 subject combinations to ensure no two subjects’ combinations fall on the same date, reads the CBSE notice.

The practical exams for both classes will be held between January 2 to February 14. Schools are required to upload the marks of students in the same window.

In the last session, CBSE results for class 10 and 12 were announced in July where class 12 recorded an overall passing percentage of 92.71 per cent, and 94.40 per cent of students managed to pass the class 10 exam.

The Ministry of Education had earlier announced that at least 40 per cent questions in the CBSE Class 10 exam and 30 per cent in Class 12 exams in 2023 will be competency based.  According to the revised pattern, questions for the CBSE board exams 2023 will come in a variety of formats, including objective type, constructing response type, assertion and reasoning, and case-based problems.
