The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will publish the results of CBSE class XII examinations latest by July 31, the board said on Thursday.

The portal for moderation and finalization of class XII results of 2021 will be opened on July 16, according to a notification issued by the board to all its affiliated schools today. The schools will be able to upload the results till July 22 midnight.

Schools have been asked to strictly follow the schedule and if any school fails to complete the moderation within the given time, their results will be declared after July 31, the board said.

“As per the time schedule …. the portal for moderation and finalization of results for class XII is being opened from 16.07. 2021 ( Afternoon) to 22.07.2021  (midnight). As board has to declare the result latest by July 31, 2021, schools are requested to follow the schedule strictly and complete the moderation within schedule. If any school is left to complete the moderation within stipulated schedule, their result will be declared separately after July 31, 2021,”read the notification signed by CBSE controller of examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj.

The board reminded the schools that the common objective “ before all of us” was declaration of “valid,  reliable and unbiased results of the students in the pandemic situation.”

Moderating marks for classes XI and XII will be a great responsibility and “has to be done in a manner to ensure justice and fairness to students.”

The board reminded the schools that any “differential application” of the board’s policy across schools “ may result in either adverse impact or undue gain for some students.”

Therefore, the schools are “mandated to moderate the marks in such a manner that the results are comparable and no student should suffer because of any unequal application of policy within a school or across schools,”

This year, the CBSE had cancelled the class X and XII board exams due to the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases.

The board had decided to evaluate class XII students on the basis of marks obtained by them in Class X and Class XI and XII internal exams, unit tests, mid-term or pre-board exams of class XII.

The board on Tuesday had sent a circular to schools asking them to review marks of all the candidates with 95 per cent and above marks and “redo moderation” according to “historical performance and given reference range.”

Schools should “exercise due diligence and ensure that there is no bunching of total marks in the range of 95 and above,” the board reiterated in its notification issued today.

The schools have been asked to “restrict the number of students at each level of overall marks from 95 and above, to ensure that this number is not more than the number of students scoring these overall marks, as per the best historic performance of the last three years.”
