CBSE issues public alert against paper leak rumors

February 27, 2023

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an advisory against heeding to rumors pertaining board exam paper leaks.

In an advisory, CBSE has said that no such paper, either of class 10 or 12 has been leaked and that students and parents must ignore any rumors spread in this regard while exams will be carried out as scheduled.

“The CBSE annual examinations of Class X and XII have commenced for this year and will continue till 5th April, 2023. The Board has made elaborate arrangements for smooth and fair conduct of examinations,” a note from the board has clarified.

The CBSE has said that these rumors have been possibly sparked through social media platforms. “It has come to the notice of the Board that certain unscrupulous elements are regularly spreading rumours on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms about paper leak or claiming to have access to question papers of 2023 exams. These persons, groups and agencies intend to fleece the gullible students and parents as they demand money in return. Such irresponsible activities create confusion and panic among the students and public,” they condemned.

The board has also warned of action against anyone involved in spreading such fake news. “CBSE is regularly intimating Delhi Police Special Cell (MAC) to take stern action against persons involved in circulating fake news using social media platforms,”  public alert read.

CBSE has warned it will act against a student under Unfair means, rules and various sections of IPC if found indulging in spreading fake news. “Parents are also requested to guide their wards not to believe such rumours and not indulge in any such activity which hampers the smooth conduct of Board examinations. Public is therefore alerted against such unverified news and rumours during the ongoing exams and further requested not to participate in such activities or spread such information through any form of communication to maintain the sanctity of examinations at all cost,” they said.
