The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the detailed assessment structure for the 2026 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations, including the subject-wise division of theory, practical, project and internal assessment marks.
In a circular issued on Tuesday, CBSE confirmed that practical exams, project assessments and internal evaluations for both classes will be conducted between 1 January and 14 February 2026. Schools have been instructed to complete all assessments within this period.
The board has asked schools to exercise caution while uploading marks, noting that errors have been frequent in previous years. It stated that requests for corrections submitted later will not be considered.
The subject-wise marking scheme, published on the official website cbse.gov.in, includes subject codes and names, maximum marks for each assessment component, requirements for external examiners, provision of practical answer books and the specifications for theory answer books.
CBSE has advised schools to read the circular and annexures carefully to avoid procedural issues during practical and theory examinations. It also reiterated that each subject carries 100 marks, divided across theory, practical, project and internal assessment components as specified for each subject.
The board said the updated documentation is intended to support schools and students in preparing for the 2026 examination cycle.
