The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to consider scores of a student in their class X, XI and class XII pre-boards while formulating the criteria for announcing this year’s class XII results.
According to EducationWorld sources, the scores that students have scored in the last two years (class X and XI) along with their performance in the pre boards would be the deciding factor for their class X results – 30 percent weightage will be given to class X and XI final results and 40 percent to class XII pre-boards. The CBSE is all set to place the evaluation criteria before the Supreme court on Thursday (June 16), following which it would be made public on the board’s website.
It may be recollected that the CBSE was the first board to cancel board exams for class XII students in the wake of the pandemic. On June 1, as the announcement was made by prime minister Narendra Modi following consultation with several stakeholders and the board, students heaved a sigh of relief.
The Supreme Court on June 3, however, said that even as it welcomed the decision of the government to cancel CBSE board exam in the interest of the students, an objective criterion fixed for assessment of marks must be placed before the court. Following this, a 13-member committee was constituted by the board to formulate the criterion and submit it to the court.
Reports in the Times of India also indicate that principals of some CBSE schools have indicated that this could be done in a 30:30:40 formula.
