Centre to Establish 100 New Sainik Schools: Rajnath Singh

Alappuzha (Kerala), Jan 22 (PTI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Wednesday that the Centre will establish 100 new sainik schools across India to enhance the quality of education and contribute to the nation’s holistic development.

Speaking at the 47th annual day celebrations of Vidyadhiraja Sainik School in Alappuzha, Singh said the initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting discipline, self-reliance, and excellence among young students. He highlighted that the government’s decision to allow girls to enroll in sainik schools was a step towards fostering gender equality and inclusivity in education.

“These schools will be established across diverse regions and remote areas, ensuring children from all cultural backgrounds have access to quality education. This will not only build a strong foundation for students but also contribute to the overall progress of the country,” Singh stated.

He stressed the need for an educational revolution, noting that as India advances in health, communication, industry, transport, and defence, the development of a skilled and disciplined youth is vital. “Education is the cornerstone of nation-building. The new sainik schools will nurture values such as discipline, selflessness, and a sense of duty, preparing students to excel in various fields,” Singh added.

During his speech, the Defence Minister emphasized that the qualities of a soldier—discipline, focus, and dedication—are essential traits for leaders across all domains. He cited examples of Swami Vivekananda, Adi Shankaracharya, and Raja Ravi Varma, who exhibited these traits in their contributions to social, cultural, and political reforms.

Singh also highlighted the role of sainik schools in instilling patriotism and fostering leadership skills among students, which are critical for the nation’s progress. He urged schools to adopt innovative teaching methods and focus on holistic development to prepare students for the challenges of the future.

In addition to the sainik school initiative, Singh participated in several events in Kerala, reaffirming the government’s focus on regional growth and the empowerment of youth through education.
