CEPT University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat formerly the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, is a private academic institution located near university area in Ahmedabad offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas of natural and developed environment of human society and related disciplines.
CEPT University, Ahmedabad comprises five faculties; it was established as the School of Architecture in 1962 by The Ahmedabad Education Society (AES), followed by the School of Planning (1972), School of Building Science and Technology (1982) and School of Interior Design (1991) with aid from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Government of Gujarat and the Ford Foundation. The Faculty of Management focusing on habitat and project management was established in 2013.
Until 2002 the institute was autonomous and awarded its own diplomas while being recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). From 2002 to 2005 it was affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University. In 2005 it became a university through the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University Act, 2005. It was renamed “CEPT University” through CEPT University Act, 2010.
CEPT University focuses on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. Its teaching programs aim to build thoughtful professionals and its research programs deepen understanding of human settlements. CEPT University also undertakes advisory projects to further the goal of making habitats more liveable. Through its education, research and advisory activities, CEPT strives to improve the impact of habitat professions in enriching the lives of people in India’s villages, towns and cities.
CEPT University, Ahmedabad is situated on the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Campus. CEPT University facilities include the Lilavati Lalbhai library providing resources for learning and research supported by online access with over 46,000 resources and memberships to the British and NID library.
The laboratory facilities support technical education and provides testing facilities of surveying and levelling, geotechnical investigation, concrete technology, mechanics and infrastructure engineering. There are labs for computer, language, structural, environmental science, remote sensing, transportation and GIS.
CEPT University Ahmedabad also houses workshop facilities, enabling learning through experimentation. Workshops include a fabrication lab and have state-of-the art facilities for model making and works in wood, metal, ceramic and textile.
The university also houses hostels for boys and girls on campus along with other residential facilities including common rooms/mess, laundry services, PG housing melas, a common canteen and gym. There is a strong security and surveillance system to ensure the safety and well-being of residential students.

CEPT University, Ahmedabad’s training and placement (T&P) cell conducts recruitment drives for final year students every year and imparts vocational training and internship opportunities to third year students. The university has produced noteable alumni over the years including the only Indian recipient of the Pritzker Prize Award B.V. Doshi.
Camus hostel facilities are available for boys. The CEPT University, Ahmedabad boys hostel comprises two blocks and offers facilities including a common room, gym, common canteen and ‘Paying Guest Housing Mela’.
