Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the BJP-led NDA candidate in Thiruvananthapuram, unveiled plans for the establishment of 10 Artificial Intelligence Labs across 10 colleges in the constituency. These cutting-edge labs, set to operate with the technical support of a renowned ‘Global AI giant,’ are a significant stride in fostering technological innovation.
Chandrasekhar disclosed that 17 colleges applied for the initiative, with the first phase allocating AI labs to 10 institutions under the India AI Mission. As India gears up to create a comprehensive AI ecosystem with a budgetary allocation of Rs 10,361 crore, Chandrasekhar emphasized earmarking Rs 2,000 crore to boost AI startups. Responding to queries about the focus on Thiruvananthapuram, he underscored his candidacy’s role, expressing a commitment to the constituency’s development.
The Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology, and Jal Shakti dismissed any ethical concerns, stating his intention to implement these projects for the benefit of Thiruvananthapuram residents. Chandrasekhar, driven by a non-political agenda, initiated similar programs nationwide over the past few years, now extending these efforts to Thiruvananthapuram.
Asserting the scalability of the initiative, he envisions AI labs reaching every college that desires them over the next five years, backed by government support. While Chandrasekhar awaits the opportune moment to unveil the global AI giant, he stresses the collaborative nature of this venture with the Indian government. The Minister’s proactive approach and strategic vision position Thiruvananthapuram as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
