It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill” – Wilbur Wrigh
Chitkara College of Applied Engineering (CCAE) was established in the year 2019 by Chitkara University with a vision to take ‘Make in India’ mission of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the students and provide opportunities of skill development along with vertical mobility leading to gainful employment of diploma students joining Engineering Programs.
CCAE is an initiative to provide students with an opportunity to grow in their career paths with Civil, Electrical and Mechanical specialisations. Our programs come with mandatory industry internship and students are offered with 100% placement assistance in our partner organisations.
On-the-job training is an integral part of our Engineering programs at (CCAE) and are meant to not only give the students a real-life exposure of the industry, but also allow the employer to evaluate the students. The academic approach for our Engineering degree students is maximum industry orientation/ exposure with great emphasis on practical skill enhancement.
Since inception our objective has been to make engineers “Industry Ready” by harnessing their skills. Our mantra “Explore Your Potential” guide the students at every step by imparting skills and knowledge at macro level.
Witnessing the demand for skilled engineers and to support the ever-growing demand for engineers in the field of “Building Services”, CCAE was constituted as a skill-driven academic institution under Chitkara University. Service engineering is a very crucial and important element in making building structures liveable by bringing ventilation, light, sanitation, hygiene, safety, security and most importantly the environmental aspect.
CCAE began its journey in partnership and association with National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Sector Skill Councils (SSC’s) and created new academic avenues. The following programs were established in close collaboration with industry:
1. B.Tech – Civil Engineering (Plumbing & Public Health Engineering)
2. B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration)
3. B.Tech – Electrical Engineering (Factory & Industrial Automation)
4. B.E – Electrical Engineering (Building Technologies & Automation)
The above-mentioned programs were established in close collaboration with respective leading industry houses and saw the creation of state-of-the-art lab infrastructure.
Our labs at the campus help students gain practical know how of the working of the following areas of expertise that they would need in future to successfully do their job:
Plumbing Lab
This is single largest and tallest infra created to support Plumbing & Public Health Engineering program and it is recognized by Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and Certified by Indian Plumbing Skill Council (IPSC). The lab covers underground drainage, above ground drainage, ventilation, water supply, sanitary engineering, waste water disposal & pump and supply engineering.
HVAC&R Lab
The lab infrastructure is created to support Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration program in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, India and is recognized by Indian Society for Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE). It covers Pychrometry, Air Change Measurements Lab, Air Conditioning Machinery, Ventilation Lab, Human Comfort Lab etc.
Factory Automation Lab This lab signifies the extent to which an industry partner can go along with the academic institution to enable skill-based learning. Fuji Electric joined hands with Chitkara College of Applied Engineering and established FETA (Fuji Electric Technical Academy) to bring in finest hands-on learning in the fields of automation.
Building Automation Lab As the world progressed to make buildings intelligent, communicate and house super expensive data centres, there has also been a greater demand for highest levels of safety and security. Surveillance, intrusion, fire and acoustics pose severe threat to habitation and data, which needs sophisticated technologies to be deployed to secure and protect.
Siemens India joined hands with CCAE and established Building Technologies Demonstration Centre (BTDC).
Golden Moments CCAE students actively participated in the following skills:
1. Plumbing & Heating Skill
2. Automobile Technology Skill
3. Industrial Control Technology Skill
The skill competitions were held at district level, state level, regional level and finally at zonal level. CCAE students emerged as winners in the following competitions competing with the best talent at India Skills 2019 final competition held in IGI Area, New Delhi:
1. Industrial Control Technology Skill – Gold & Silver
2. Plumbing & Heating Skill – Gold
3. Automobile Technology Skill– Medallion of Excellence
