Chitkara University was set up in 2010 by the Punjab State Legislature under “The Chitkara University Act”. Ranked among the top universities in Punjab, Chitkara University, Chandigarh is a government-recognised university with the right to confer degrees as per the Sections 2(f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956.

SportsThe admission procedure commences with submission of properly filled admission forms. This is followed by a counselling session; all the candidates are required to appear before the counselling committee on the date specified.
The seats for the various programmes are allotted based on merit-ranking of the student in the specified entrance test subject to fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria for the programme.
