The Delhi Parents’ Association has lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and Delhi Education Minister Atishi over allegations of harassment and denial of examination access to a Class 11 student at a private school in Pitampura.
Association president Aprajhita Gautam stated that the complaint was filed on behalf of Surmeet Singh Saggi, whose daughter was allegedly confined to the school reception for over three hours due to an 11-day fee payment delay.
“The incident caused her to miss her final practical examination,” Gautam added.
Saggi alleged that his daughter was escorted out of class in front of her peers, leading to embarrassment and emotional distress. Despite his requests, she was kept at the reception from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The association has urged the NCPCR to investigate the school for mental harassment, wrongful confinement, and rights violations. It also appealed for the student to be allowed to take her missed exam without prejudice.
Additionally, the association has called on the Delhi Education Minister to investigate the school’s alleged unauthorized fee hikes.
The school has not yet commented on the allegations.
