Greenwood High proudly marked the closing ceremony of the 69th National School Games – CISCE Chess Championship 2025–26. The evening began on a powerful cultural note with the rhythmic beats of Dollu Kunitha, setting the tone for a celebration filled with honour and pride.
Over two action-packed days, the campus buzzed with strategic brilliance, intense focus and masterful performances as some of the country’s finest young talents showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship on the chessboard.
The school had the privilege of welcoming Grandmaster Tej Kumar – India’s 50th and Karnataka’s 1st Grandmaster – as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further graced by the presence of Ms. Niru Agarwal, Managing Trustee of Greenwood High, along with Mr. Arnav Kumar Shaw, Manager, CISCE Sports & Games, and Ms. Tripti Agrawal, Field Officer, SGFI.
From honouring outstanding performances to appreciating the relentless efforts of arbiters, coaches and teachers, the ceremony stood as a heartfelt tribute to dedication, discipline and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
In the Under-19 Boys Championship, CBSE secured first place, followed by Maharashtra in second and Tamil Nadu in third. In the Under-19 Girls Championship, Maharashtra claimed the championship title, with CBSE taking second place and CISCE finishing in third.
As this remarkable championship concluded, Greenwood High extended warm congratulations to every participant—on the board and beyond—celebrating each one as a true champion.
