Commercializing education & healthcare never in society’s best interest: Vice President Dhankhar

Jagdeep Dhankhar

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar asserted that the commercialization of education and healthcare is not in society’s best interest. He expressed optimism that the situation would improve with the implementation of the new National Education Policy.

Speaking at the 11th foundation day ceremony of Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University in Jobner, Dhankhar noted that education and healthcare were once not seen as businesses in India, but the landscape has changed. He emphasized that commercializing these sectors is detrimental to society.

The vice president highlighted that the National Education Policy, developed through extensive deliberation, is poised to bring about a positive transformation in this regard.

Furthermore, Dhankhar emphasized India’s growing global influence, noting the country’s remarkable economic progress. He pointed out that India’s foreign currency reserves, which once covered just 15 days of imports, now exceed USD 600 billion. Additionally, he mentioned that India has shifted from being among the five weakest economies globally to becoming one of the five largest economies over the past decade.
