Architecture is the art and technique of planning, designing and constructing buildings and other structures, creating designs and selections of furnishings and decorations, supervising construction work and the restoration of existing constructions.

B.Arch. or Bachelor of Architecture is a five-year undergraduate course required to study architecture from several prestigious institutions such as School of Planning and Architecture, Indian Institutes of Technology, Sir J.J College of Architecture, etc.

Eligibility:

The eligibility criterion for B.Arch. is that aspirants should be from the Science stream in 10+2 with Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects with a minimum aggregate of 50% in PCM in 10+2 exams.

JEE-Main (Paper 2)

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) annually, candidates may appear for entrance for three consecutive years. It is one of the two compulsory entrances prescribed by the Council of Architecture for taking admission to any architecture college/course in India (the other being JEE NATA). Since 2021, the national entrance is conducted four times a year between January and May. Registrations for the 2022 February session begin from November 2021, while those for the other three sessions occur a month before the session.

Eligibility:

Fees to pay: Ranging from Rs. 650 (for Unreserved/OBC category Male candidates) to Rs. 325 (for Unreserved/OBC category Female candidates and SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category candidates)

Exam pattern: The JEE Mains paper-2 is a computer-based exam (except the drawing test, which is pen and paper based) for a duration of three hours. There are three parts to the exam:

Part 1: Mathematics Test (100 marks) – 25 objective-type questions in MCQ format, four marks awarded for a correct answer with negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

Part 2: Aptitude Test (200 marks) – 50 objective-type questions in MCQ format, four marks awarded for a correct answer with negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

Part 3: Drawing Test (100 marks) – two questions of 50 marks each.

JEE-Advanced AAT

Conducted once a year by the seven zonal IITs with guidance from the Joint Admission Board (JAB), the JEE Advanced Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) is used for admissions to B.Arch. programmes offered by two IITs in India- IIT Kharagpur (40 seats) and IIT Roorkee (35 seats).

Dates: JEE Advanced AAT will be conducted on October 18, 2021, the results for which will be released on October 22, 2021.

Eligibility:

Fees to pay: Rs 2600 – Rs 1300

Exam Pattern: The exam is conducted in the offline pen and paper mode for a duration of three hours. The paper is divided into five sections:

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA), is a national level examination for admission to B.Arch. and B.Plan. courses and is one of the two compulsory entrances prescribed by the Council of Architecture for taking admission to any architecture college/course in India (the other being JEE Mains Paper 2). Candidates may register on the official website https://www.nata.in/. The exam is held twice annually in April and June. Online application for this year will begin from March 2022.

Eligibility:

Candidate should have passes 10+2 examinations with science stream (PCM) with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

Fees to pay: (for one session) Rs. 1500 (for SC/ST candidates) – Rs. 2000 (for general candidates) (double the amount for both sessions)

Exam Pattern: The 200-mark exam is conducted in the online CBT mode for a duration of three hours. One to three marks are awarded depending on the type of question and section, and there is no negative marking. The paper is divided into two parts:

KIITEE

The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology Entrance Exam is conducted once a year for three days. Candidates may register online by visiting the official website https://kiit.ac.in/. Applications for KIITEE 2022 will begin from December 22, 2021 and the exam is scheduled to be conducted in the 3rd and 4th week of June 2022.

Eligibility:

Admission Process: Selection is based on the rank secured in Computer-Based Test / Qualifying exam mark followed by online counseling.

Fees to pay: No application fees.

HITSEEE

The Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Engineering Entrance Examination (HITSEEE) is conducted once a year in the online mode. Candidates may register online by visiting the official website https://hindustanuniv.ac.in/. Applications for HITSEEE 2022 will begin from the second week of January 2021, and the exam is scheduled to be conducted in the last week of June 2022.

JNTUPACET

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) conducts Planning and Architecture Common Entrance Test (PACET) once a year (usually in June) for five and six-year B.Arch. courses and four year B.Plan. courses. Candidates may register online by visiting the official website https://jntuh.ac.in/. Dates for JNTUPACET 2022 are yet to be announced.

The 200-mark architecture paper comprises two parts:
