A Congress leader has appealed to Shah Rukh Khan and other former students to visit their critically ill teacher, Brother Eric D’Souza, in Goa.
In a video posted on X, Indian National Congress Secretary Szarita Laitphlang shared her visit to Goa to meet D’Souza, her former teacher and mentor.
D’Souza was a significant figure for many students at Delhi’s St. Columba’s School, including Shah Rukh Khan, whom he greatly influenced.
In the video, Laitphlang addressed Shah Rukh directly, saying, “Hi Shah Rukh, I wouldn’t normally do this, but I’m in Goa visiting Brother Eric D’Souza, known to us as Dasu. Many of us grew up with him.”
She acknowledged Shah Rukh’s busy schedule but requested him to take a short flight from Mumbai to visit D’Souza, whose health is deteriorating and who can no longer speak.
Shah Rukh, who previously studied in Delhi before moving to Mumbai, has often spoken about D’Souza’s influence on his life. On the show “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai,” he described D’Souza as a guiding light and the only person he looked up to after his parents.
Laitphlang mentioned that nurses jokingly ask D’Souza if he is waiting for Shah Rukh to visit. She urged all former students whose lives were impacted by D’Souza to find time to visit him.
