“With schools being shut down across the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators worldwide are leaving no stone unturned to keep the students engaged in this hour of crisis. Sat Paul Mittal School has also taken the onus to transition to virtual learning to minimise the disruption in learning. It is heartening to see the collaborative efforts bearing fruit with parents and students enthused about our online  teaching-learning initiative.”

A Microsoft Showcase School that has been listed among Fortune India’s ‘The Future 50 Schools Shaping Success’, Sat Paul Mittal School (SPMS) is committed to offer a holistic 21st century learning experience. A pioneer of technological revolution in the classroom, the school has formulated a multi-pronged strategy by adopting existing and new digital technologies to offer an uninterrupted learning experience to students and ensure the safety, health and wellness of all the stakeholders amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown. Some of the ways in which SPMS is delivering an engaging virtual learning experience through its ‘Remote Learning Work Plan’ are:

Student orientation: Initially, a detailed schedule message was sent to the students outlining the remote learning plan and expectations. Follow-up communications and other updates from time to time are shared to ensure that the students utilise their time constructively. This engaging experience has surely helped the students to be independent learners which is one of the key future-ready skills. Students are discovering inspiring projects, best practices, and new ideas so they can continue to drive valuable learning in virtual environments.

Engaging virtual classroom: SPMS teachers are actively using MS Teams, Flipgrid, Wakelet, OneNote, O365 to create and share e-learning resources with students. They also use Presenter software to create videos besides White Board, Microsoft Powerpoint, Screencast-o-Matic, and Wondershare Filmora and are making online learning more interesting and engaging through animations and sound effects. Assessments after each module is conducted in the form of objective questions using Online Forms, Kahoot, and students submit their work through OneNote.

Digitally powered co-curricular education: The well-balanced online learning curriculum includes physical education, dance, music an art classes that are conducted by leveraging several digital platforms including Flipgrid and Kahoot.

Virtual collaboration and review: SPMS staff and management are leveraging MS Teams and other digital platforms for seamless day-to-day collaboration. Regular staff meetings are also conducted through MS Teams for follow-up and review of sessions.
