The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the final answer keys for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG, setting the stage for the announcement of the delayed results for the undergraduate admission exam.
On July 7, the NTA had issued provisional answer keys for CUET-UG 2024. A retest was conducted on July 19 for over 1,000 candidates whose grievances were validated by the agency.
“The final answer key has been released and the result will be declared soon,” a senior NTA official said.
The CUET-UG results have been delayed amid controversies over alleged irregularities in other competitive exams, such as NEET-UG and UGC-NET. The results were initially scheduled for June 30 but were postponed due to allegations of paper leaks in NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET.
For the first time, the CUET-UG was conducted in a hybrid mode nationwide but was cancelled in Delhi a night before the exam due to “logistical reasons” and later rescheduled.
The NTA had announced that the third edition of CUET-UG would be completed in seven days with no score normalization, as all exams would be conducted in a single shift. The test included pen-paper mode for 15 subjects and CBT mode for 48 subjects, with over 13.4 lakh candidates registered for admission to 261 universities.
In 2022, the first edition of the exam faced technical issues and required score normalization due to multiple shifts for some subjects.
The Supreme Court recently dismissed pleas from unsuccessful NEET-UG 2024 aspirants seeking cancellation and re-test, stating no evidence of systemic breaches in the exam’s sanctity. This verdict supported the NTA and the NDA government amid widespread criticism and protests over alleged malpractices in the NEET-UG exam held on May 5.
