Delhi Education Directorate urges private schools to submit fee-hike proposals before new session

March 29, 2024

The Delhi Directorate of Education has instructed private schools in the city seeking approval for a fee hike to submit their proposals before the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic session, officials stated.

As per the circular issued on March 27, no private unaided school in Delhi allocated land by government agencies can raise fees without prior approval from the Directorate of Education.

The DoE has directed all heads/managers of private unaided schools to submit their proposals on the official website from April 1 to April 15.

“These are standard instructions outlined in the affiliation criteria for private schools. We have reissued these directives as the new academic session begins on April 1,” explained a Delhi government official to PTI.

If a school fails to submit the proposal, it cannot increase any fees until the DoE grants approval.

The circular also warns of strict action, in accordance with statutory provisions, against schools found raising fees without prior approval, upon receiving complaints.
