Delhi: Norms relaxed for minority, OBC students for admission to Class XI

According to official sources on July 3, the Delhi Education Department has relaxed prescribed criteria for admission in Commerce and Science streams in Class XI of government schools for students belonging to minorities and OBC categories.

Education minister Kiran Walia has informed all Heads of government schools that students belonging to these categories would be eligible for admission in the concerned streams by availing benefit of relaxation of 1 grade point in any one of the three subjects prescribed as per admission criteria of the Education Department.

The Education Department has already prescribed admission criteria for admission in Class XI of government schools as per which, for admission to Science stream, a minimum CGPA of 7 is required along with minimum grades of B2 in each of 3 subjects including English, Maths and Science.

Similarly, for students seeking admission in Commerce (with Maths), the minimum CGPA required is 6.6 with minimum grades of C1 in English and Social Science subjects and Maths with minimum grade of B2.
