In 2023, Delhi schools achieved significant milestones, including 32 students securing positions at the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) and the “Business Blasters Investment Expo,” where over 100 student-led startups presented ideas to investors.

Despite these successes, challenges arose as deteriorating air quality following Diwali led to a 10-day closure of educational institutes, affecting student attendance. Delhi government schools also played a vital role by enrolling over 150 students from violence-affected Manipur, facilitating their transition to normalcy.

On September 27, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Armed Forces Preparatory School saw 32 students, including nine girls, clearing the NDA exam. Established by the Aam Aadmi Party government, the school focuses on developing students for armed forces roles.

The “Business Blasters” program in city government schools achieved a significant milestone in April, offering selected students direct admissions to top universities in Delhi. Launched in 2021, this practical component of the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum empowers students to develop business ideas with seed money.

However, Delhi schools faced challenges due to air pollution after Diwali, leading to a 10-day suspension of physical classes. This disproportionately affected underprivileged students without access to online learning tools, prompting calls for a permanent solution to Delhi’s pollution issue.

Delhi government schools also supported students from Manipur, displaced by ethnic violence, by easing the admission process for around 150 students in the past year. Despite difficulties, efforts were made to assist these students in their educational journey, reflecting the schools’ commitment to inclusivity.
