Musings on the ‘SOCH’ of humans and the need to introspect was the theme of the Delhi Public School Harni: Annual Concert 2022.
Dr Shamsher Singh, commissioner of police Vadodara was the chief guest. He has served as deputy commissioner of police in Ahmedabad and Vadodara and joint commissioner of police in Surat and Ahmedabad. He has successfully used innovative methods of citizen centric policing in all these roles.
The first performance was the melodious welcome song where almost a hundred students enthralled the audience with their immaculate rendering accompanied by the confluence of musical instruments like Tabla, Harmonium, Guitar and Keyboard
After the welcome song, the auspicious lamp was lit by the dignitaries present to witness the concert.
Next was the traditional Ganesha Vandana where students sought blessings of Lord Ganesha, the God who augurs good beginning and mends the link of broken chains.
It is rightly said, “There is no ‘master plan’ on the road to receiving an award. It only represents a lot of hard work and great passion for that work”. The students of DPS Harni strongly believe in this. This platform was used to felicitate the students of Class XII 2021-22 batch who achieved excellent results in the board exams with their innate knowledge and consistent hard work. Shamsher Singh gave away the prizes to the meritorious students.
The students of the secondary section portrayed the sojourn of the Homo Sapiens from the glorious past to the acrimonious present. Through dance and drama, the belief that the architecture of the human brain is responsible for the disaster was expressed. The glorious and peaceful existence of the past was portrayed in the form of a harmonious ballet by the students of class VI. It was followed by a short play that depicted the age of discovery which gave way to the colonial era. In the era of peace and innocence the seed of greed and manipulation was sown.
The scene that touched the heart of the audience and brought tears to the eyes of the onlookers was the very emotional ‘Aatma ki pukaar’. Akanksha Arun won the hearts of young and old alike with her pristine and angelic rendition of ‘This is our time’ – the hope lies in the hands of the future, THE CHANGEMAKERS.
The programme ended with the note that ‘SOCH’ can be rectified, that the future generation, the youth of today can set in the change.
The chief guest in his speech applauded the school’s commitment to hone the talents and skills of the students.
DPSH junior students presented ‘CIRCLE OF LIFE’ — a dramatic representation based on Walt Disney’s ‘The Lion King’. The dance drama attempted to capture the essence of life and warned its viewers about the blinding effect of power. But what really touched the heart of the audience was the ability to forgive ourselves for the past and look to the future with pride.
The scene where Mufasa tells young Simba that his domain is “everything the light touches”, was powerfully presented using the effects of light and sound.
The little ones danced to the tune of Hakuna Matata, meaning ‘No Worries’ asking the elders to live their lives rooted to the problem-free philosophy of Timon and Pumba. The theatrical presentation of the birth of Simba and his eviction and coming back to reign his kingdom, ‘Circle of Life’ created a desirable impact on the audience.
The little students enacted the part assigned to them with sheer perfection which was equally matched by the impactful voiceovers.
Chief guest Banchanidhi Pani, Vadodara’s municipal commissioner was impressed by the performance of the young ones. In his speech, he expressed that the future of the world is indeed in safe hands.
