Parents and students protested outside a private school in central Delhi on Thursday following the death of a Class 10 student who allegedly died by suicide at Rajendra Place Metro Station on 18 November.

According to the FIR registered by Delhi Police, the 16-year-old is believed to have jumped from Platform No. 2. His school bag was found nearby, and officers recovered a handwritten note from inside.

The student’s father told police that his son had been distressed for several weeks and had complained of being scolded and humiliated by certain teachers. The family said they had raised the matter with school staff on several occasions.

On the day of the incident, the father was out of Delhi for a medical procedure involving a relative. The student left home at around 7:15 am, saying he was going to school. Police said the father received a call at about 2:45 pm informing him that his son had been found injured under the metro track. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead.

The suicide note recovered by police contained an apology to his parents and brother. It also referred to the conduct of some teachers and included a request that no other student face similar treatment. The boy also expressed a wish for organ donation.

Police are recording statements from students, teachers and staff as part of the investigation.
