Deliveroo, the global food delivery company, has unveiled its latest recruitment drive focused on attracting university students from prestigious institutions. This initiative offers students the opportunity to join the India Development Centre (IDC) of the innovative food-tech company, situated in Hyderabad.
The recruitment effort aligns with Deliveroo’s ongoing commitment to harness India’s talent pool and cultivate a world-class team dedicated to advancing their vision of becoming the definitive food company driven by technology. Earlier this year, Deliveroo’s CEO visited Hyderabad to mark the IDC’s first anniversary and announced plans for its further expansion, underscoring its global importance within Deliveroo.
Deliveroo intends to visit several colleges, including IIIT Hyderabad, NIT Warangal, Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), and Vasavi College of Engineering in Hyderabad.
Commenting on this initiative, Sashi Somavarapu, Vice President – Engineering and Country Head at Deliveroo India, stated, “We are on track to exceed 200 employees in the country by the end of the year. As part of our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, we aim to hire a significant number of female employees in this latest round of recruitment. Selected students will kickstart their journey with a six-month internship program from January, paving the way for full-time roles next year, where they will collaborate closely with core engineering teams.”
Deliveroo’s IDC in India serves as the largest technology hub outside of the United Kingdom, where the company is headquartered. It supports Deliveroo’s primary engineering operations in the UK and is expected to have over 200 engineers by the end of 2023. The centre plays a vital role in Deliveroo’s central technology organization, housing experts in backend engineering, analytics, platforms, automation, and machine learning.
