Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School Egmore is a boys day school affiliated with the Tamil Nadu state board. Sited at Egmore in Chennai, the school was founded in 1959 as a matriculation school affiliated with the University of Madras. In 1978, it obtained affiliation from the Board of Matriculation Schools, Tamil Nadu and was subsequently granted a higher secondary school status by the Director of School Education Chennai on July 1, 1978. The school offers classes from I to XII.
Don Bosco, Egmore is an all boys school established with a vision to “develop the spirit, mind and body of students, encouraging co-curricular activities and sports in addition to the academic program”.
Says a school spokesperson, “Don Bosco School stands for the integral development of the student – to help develop the student’s spirit, mind and body.”
The school started with a handful 140 students and 8 teachers and now has a commendable student strength of over 2700 and faculty strength of about 106.
Don Bosco, Egmore offers a modern campus well equipped with amenities for supporting the scholastic and non-scholastic interests of the students such as smart classrooms well-stocked libraries and state-of-the-art science and computer laboratories.
The school campus houses play fields for outdoor games and sports and coaching is available for certain sports like cricket and football.
Don Bosco, Egmore is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu State Board and offers classes from I to XII. Students appear for the board exams in class X according to the Matriculation system and for the class XII exams as per the Tamil Nadu State Board.
Extracurricular:
The school promotes a variety of co-curricular activities along with indoor and outdoor sports. The Scout Troop of Don Bosco has won numerous awards and accolades. The NCC unit and the Road Safety Patrol involve participation of students on a regular basis and enable their physical and emotional development.

The Scouts club of the school has brought many laurels home, including the prestigious Rajyapurashkar or the Governor award. The school also runs an education program called the Road Safety Patrol that educates students about road safety and traffic rules.
The Bosco Education Program has undertaken the schooling responsibility of the underprivileged sections of the city and has successfully sponsored over 522 poor children since its inception.
