Don Bosco School Bandel, (DBB), is an all boys day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Founded in 1978, it is managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco, a minority institution within the Catholic church.
The school was originally established in January 1951 as a seminary and later as a school in 1978 to serve the educational needs of the boys of the locality. The school offers education from class I to XII and being a minority institution, preference is given to Catholic and Anglo Indian boys. The motto of the institution is “Strive for the best”.
The school hosts an auditorium that can seat up to 900 people; it is mainly used for assemblies and school cultural programs. The library is air conditioned and well stocked with fiction and non-fiction books, leading daily newspapers and educational magazines.
The school also offers well equipped science labs, computer lab, well ventilated classrooms and an audio visual room which is mainly used for Power-Point presentations and conducting seminars. The high school building has a huge playground, with a basketball court and a charming children’s park for the tiny tots.
The school follows the CISCE curriculum and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations at the end of class X and class XII respectively. Students of class XI can opt between Science, Arts and Commerce streams.
Extracurricular: The school promotes a host of extracurricular activities such as debates, quiz, extempore, creative writing competitions, inter-house patriotic songs, value based skit competitions, and encourages students to participate in various inter-school competitions. Every student is given an opportunity to take initiatives and develop a holistic personality through these activities. Besides, the school also promotes youth groups and clubs such as the YCS, friends club, nature club, social service club, science club, LTS etc to enhance leadership potentialities and team skills.

Applications for admission are accepted from students of all religious faiths. However, Christians and Anglo-Indians are given preference and Catholics students must produce a recommendation letter from the Parish Priest.
A candidate from a recognized school is admitted with a transfer certificate and is examined based on the syllabus of his previous class. Each new candidate is introduced personally to the principal by the guardian responsible for his conduct and fees.
Students of DBB have participated and won accolades in various interschool, state and national level competitions including the Limca Book of Records. They have won prestigious awards such as the Governor’s Award 2005, the highest scout award at state level, and the Rajya Puraskar award in 2008.
Boys from DBB also represented India in the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad.
Being a day school, accommodation facilities are not provided.
