Delhi University announced on Sunday that it has offered admission to 90,644 candidates for undergraduate programs, surpassing its 71,600 sanctioned seats for the 2024-25 academic session.
In the second round of allocations, 24,869 new candidates were offered admission. Of the 43,067 candidates who sought an upgrade from the previous round, 27,554 had their higher preferences accepted.
In the first round, DU allocated seats to 65,775 candidates, with 20,829 choosing the freeze option, accepting their assigned college and course.
Candidates shortlisted in the second round must accept their allocation by 4:59 pm on August 27 and submit their fees by 4:59 pm on August 30. Only those who complete payment will be eligible for upgrades in subsequent rounds.
The university plans to make additional allocations in the second round to optimize seat filling, aiming to start the academic session on August 29, 2024.
Candidates rejected in the first round due to invalid documents have been reconsidered in the unreserved category based on merit and preference, subject to seat availability.
The university has improved the process for candidates upgraded in the second round to streamline college processing and reduce grievances. Upgraded allocations will be directly processed by colleges.
Candidates must check their dashboards for any additional fees and complete payment to finalize their upgraded admission. The third round will cover performance-based programs and supernumerary quotas, with a schedule to be announced soon.
