Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow initiative New delhi, april 10. Samsung India, the well-known subsidiary of the Seoul-based Samsung Eletronics Co Ltd, announced the third edition of its flagship CSR initiative — ‘Solve for Tomorrow’, in collaboration with IIT-Delhi, the Union ministry of electronics & information technology, and United Nations (India). The objective of the ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ programme is to “usher in a culture of innovative thinking and problem solving among the country’s youth”. This year, the ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ programme has introduced new School Track and Youth Track initiatives. School Track is designed for students aged 14-17, and focuses on the theme ‘Community and Inclusion’. School teams presenting the best project prototype for uplifting underprivileged groups, improving accessibility to health and social inclusion, will receive a Rs.25 lakh grant. Youth Track targets individuals aged 18-22, with a focus on ‘Environment and Sustainability’. The team presenting best prototype for reducing carbon footprint, protecting the environment and promoting sustainability, will be awarded Rs.50 lakh. “At Samsung, we strive to inspire and shape the future through innovative ideas and transformative technologies. The University of Exeter, (UK) announced an India Global Leaders Award (valued at £3,000) which can be combined with the already established Global Excellence Award (£7,500) which has helped students worldwide study in the UK. This new scholarship means a student can potentially be awarded over £10,000 in scholarships to fund a Masters programme at Exeter, starting September this year.
