The Emerald Heights International School (EHIS), Indore recently hosted 26 international students from 12 countries – USA, UK, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Egypt, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, Hungary, Mexico, and India – as part of the AFS BP Global STEM Academies Program 2025.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Muktesh Singh, president-EHIS, a campus tour of the school’s world-class facilities, cultural orientation sessions, and icebreakers that set the tone for the enriching journey.
Highlights of the programme:
Daily yoga sessions to build physical and mental discipline.
Robotics Workshop: Hands-on drone construction and STEM innovation.
Sustainability Art Workshop: Creative upcycling through pottery and painting.
Indore Waste Management Exploration: From Nepra Resource Management to Biogas Plant & ICCC, students discovered why Indore is India’s cleanest city.
Industrial Visit to Pinnacle Industries (Pithampur): Insight into automotive interiors, EVs, specialty vehicles, and division of labor in production.
Choithram Netralaya: Impactful experience in community healthcare, live cataract surgery observation & meaningful interaction with doctors.
IIT Indore: Lab visits exploring plasma physics, liquid nitrogen, chromatography, satellites, drones & anechoic chambers.
IIM Indore: Exposure to India’s premier management education, leadership, and holistic learning with tours of Zen Garden, Sound Garden & Spiritual Garden.
Jimmy McGilligan Centre for Sustainable Development: Lessons on renewable energy, medicinal plants, rainwater harvesting & inspiration from Padma Shri Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan Ma’am.
Mandu Heritage Visit: Exploring Rani Roopmati Palace, Baz Bahadur Palace & Jahaz Mahal – a deep dive into India’s history and culture.
NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks, Pithampur: Asia’s longest and one of the high-speed state-of-the-art tracks in India for automotive testing and certification. It is the fifth largest track in the world, giving students a glimpse into the future of automotive research and safety.
Throughout the duration of the programme, students not only engaged in STEM learning and cultural exchange but also built lasting friendships and a deeper understanding of India’s innovation, sustainability, heritage, and community values.
