Enhancing family bonding during summer holidays

PW invited parents from Jodhamal Public School, Jammu to share their plans to spend time with their children during the summer holiday

“Summer vacations are a delightful opportunity especially for my children — Aadya (class XII) and Aaditya (class VII) — to redeem our time apart as a family. Our family bonds will soon be strengthened amidst the lush green environs of Arunachal Pradesh, where my Army officer husband is posted. He has drawn up a plan to take us through the labyrinthine pathways of the Tawang Valley, experience the mist of the Nuranang Falls, soak in the peaceful environs of the Bomdila and Tawang Monasteries, and marvel at nature in the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary” — Lalimah Sambyal, interior designer

“Spending quality time with my children — Nidha (class IV) and Naman (class IV) — has become quite a task especially for working parents. What better time than to make the long summer vacations count. After all, we only get to spend 18 summers with them. This summer, we plan to embark on a road trip in the lap of nature with a host of adventure sports and games to engage in. The children have been kept in complete suspense. The idea is to surprise them. Me and my husband have pledged to keep our phones switched off” — Pooja Kapoor, entrepreneur

“How quickly a work week goes by with our children — Samaaira (class VII) and Saishaa (class I) — preoccupied with school and other activities, and us scrambling to meet work schedules. Add to that our frequent travel for work, family time becomes limited and hence extremely precious! This summer, we plan to take the children to explore Jammu and surrounding areas. A visit to Patnitop with the family is also on the agenda” — Ridhima Dewan, marketing manager, Devans Modern Breweries Ltd.

“Our daughter Tara (class V) keenly looks forward to the summer with excitement and anticipation to plunge into family games and outdoor activities which not only refreshes our minds but also unwinds our spirits. To detox from technology and devices, we look forward to slowing down in the lap of nature over the weekends. Exploring new places in the city, taking long walks, picnicking, trekking, and fishing, are a few of our favourite activities. Above all, we love to debate on a variety of issues like sports, current affairs, future plans etc” — Dr. Rinky Ahuja, practicing dentist.
