Princeton, New Jersey headquartered Educational Testing Service (ETS) will award a total of US$ 105,000 in TOEFLscholarships to exceptional students in India who have proven their academic excellence.
Students must apply online between May 19 and June 21. Semi-finalists will be notified in June and winners will be announced in August.
The TOEFL Scholarships and Giving programme supports a variety of educational initiatives aimed at helping students worldwide achieve their academic goals. The programme in India recognises TOEFLtest takers who are in pursuit of undergraduate or graduate study in India or abroad. ETS will award 15 US$ 7,000 scholarships to students to help further their education at any of the 9,000+ institutions around the world that accept the TOEFLtest.
“Every year, ETS offers the TOEFL Scholarship Programme in India to promote the educational advancement of students pursuing their academic goals,” said Jennifer Brown, executive director of the TOEFL programme. “We are excited to continue this in 2016 with a significant increase in both aid and number of recipients.”
Applicants will be evaluated on English communication skills, academic record, leadership skills and extracurricular activities. To be eligible for the TOEFL Scholarship Award, applicants must:
– Be a resident of India
– Begin undergraduate or graduate study between June 2016 and May 2017 at a university or college listed in the TOEFL® Destination Search at www.toeflgoanywhere.org.
– Hold a grade-point average of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale, or a 3.0 grade-point average or higher on a 4-point scale
– Demonstrate English proficiency with a valid TOEFLscore
