EW and Mindler hosts webinar on career guidance by schools

May 30, 2020

An overwhelming majority of schools in India lack professional career guidance departments! The fact that the top 10 careers of today did not exist a decade ago, highlights the need for students & parents to keep abreast with the fast-evolving career landscape. More so than ever before, it’s important for educators to equip children with skills that will help them thrive in the 21st century. So how are we fixing this?

Recently, EW hosted a panel discussion with Mindler on ” How are schools fixing the career guidance lacuna in schools to prepare children for the 21st Century?”

While Bhavin Shah, CEO, EducationWorld was the moderator, the panelists included Mahesh Balakrishnan, Development and Recognition Manager, India- IBO; Vandana Lulla, Director of Podar Group of International Schools; Elif Turel, Head of Career Guidance, Indus International School; Lata Vaidyanathan, Director of TERI Prakriti School.

Regarding career guidance of students for the 21st century, “we need the involvement of industry. Many of the school counsellors know about the university placements, but they are not aware of industry needs and tranining. There should be no disconnect between education in schools, industry needs and higher education” says Balakrishnan.
