With Covid-19 infection cases on the decline this year, the EducationWorld India School Rankings Awards 2021-22 (EWISRA) made a big comeback. Staged over two days on December 17-18 at the Leela Ambience Hotel, Delhi NCR, EWISRA 2021-22 attracted participation of over 700 K-12 education leaders including promoters, trustees, principals and senior teachers of India’s top-ranked schools

Audience at EWISRA 2021-22: big comeback

The EducationWorld India School rankings the sequel of the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings — the world’s largest schools ratings and ranking survey (estb.2007) — to felicitate India’s most admired primary-secondary schools, have been staged uninterruptedly in Delhi ab initio.

But in 2020, with the world and India overwhelmed by the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, which has officially claimed 4.8 lakh lives countrywide, this annual ceremonial event was cancelled and substituted by the EWISR Awards on Wheels 2020-21. Last year, EW representatives together with our partner firm Picture Pathshala visited top-ranked schools to video-record awards presentation ceremonies which were posted on EW social media and website www.educationworld.in.

With Covid infection cases on the decline this year, the EducationWorld India School Rankings Awards 2021-22 (EWISRA) made a big comeback. Staged over two days on December 17-18 at the Leela Ambience Hotel, Delhi NCR, EWISRA 2021-22 attracted the participation of over 700 K-12 education leaders including promoters, trustees, principals and senior teachers of India’s top-ranked schools. High-ranked schools in three main categories — day, boarding and international — and several subcategories under each, were awarded certificates, display plaques and encomiums.

Inauguration Ceremony

In the galaxy of notable principals and education leaders who were conferred honours and acclaim on the occasion were Dr. Jagpreet Singh, The Doon School, Dehradun; Nishi Misra, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior; Ajay Singh, Punjab Public School, Nabha; Meeta Sharma, Mussoorie International School; Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Arjun Ray and Sarojini Rao of the Indus International School, Bengaluru and Abhimanyu Basu, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai. The event was over-subscribed with school leaders from 104 cities countrywide including sizeable representation from tier III and IV habitations such as Gir Somnath, Mau, Fatehabad, Itanagar, Faizabad, Tirunelveli and Bijnor, among others convening in Gurugram.

Moreover on the occasion, veteran educationist G.S. Madhav Rao, chief advisor of the Mumbai-based Kothari Group and Vasal Education Society, Punjab and Dr. Ashok Pandey, director of the Ahlcon Group of Schools, Delhi were conferred the EW Extraordinary Achievement in Education Leadership Award 2021-22 with specially written citations.

Also on the packed agenda of the two-day event was felicitation of 150 low profile high-potential schools under the EW Grand Jury Awards 2021-22. They were ranked under 12 parameters of school excellence by a specially constituted Grand Jury of eminent educationists and conferred awards for campus architecture and design, design thinking leadership, career counseling excellence and introducing digital technologies etc.

At the two-day EWISRA 2021-22, pre-primaries ranked in six cities — Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru — in the EW India Preschool Rankings 2021-22, as well as preschools ranked in the EW Preschool Grand Jury Rankings 2021-22 (see p.96) were also duly awarded. Unfortunately, because of the unwarrantedly long lockdown of education institutions, preprimaries in particular which are still shuttered in many states across the country, the annual EducationWorld India Early Childhood Education Conference/EW India Preschool Rankings Awards events had to be cancelled and merged with EWISRA 2021-22.

Our valued partners for the two-day event were Live Life Education Pvt. Ltd, Chennai; GrayQuest Education Finance Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai; Mindler Education Pvt. Ltd, Delhi; BenQ India, Gurugram; Edunext Technologies Pvt. Ltd, Noida; WordsWorth English Language System, Ahmedabad and Afairs Education Advisory, Kolkata. Our grateful thanks to all of them for facilitating and enabling EWISRA 2021-22.
