EW India School Rankings Awards 2018-19Over two days on September 28-29, principals, promoters, trustees, and senior teachers of India’s top-ranked day, boarding and international schools congregated at the Leela Ambience Hotel, Delhi NCR to celebrate and felicitate primary-secondary schools included in the EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) 2018-19 — the world’s largest and most in-depth school ratings and rankings survey based on field interviews with 12,214 knowledgeable stakeholders in school education countrywide. The tenth EW India School Rankings Awards 2018-19 two-day event was the country’s largest annual gathering of K-12 education leaders with over 1,000 educators and school leaders conferred national, state and city rankings among other awards, following the EWISR 2018-19 league tables published in early September.

Among the galaxy of principals and education leaders who received awards on the occasion were Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, Scindia School, Gwalior; Vanita Sehgal, DPS, RK Puram; Neera Singh, Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls School, Jodhpur; Dr. Jagpreet Singh, Punjab Public School, Nabha; Zarene Munshi, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai; Gunmeet Bindra, Welham Boys, Dehradun; Lt. Gen. Arjun Ray and Sarojini Rao of the Indus International School, Bangalore and Dr. Bijoy Sahoo, Sai International School, Bhubaneswar.

Moreover on the occasion, Ratna Reddy, founder of the Chirec Group of schools, Hyderabad; Pramod Sharma, former headmaster of Mayo College, Ajmer and vice president of Genesis Global School, Noida; Begum Anees Khan, founder of the Nasr Group of schools, Hyderabad and Amarjyoti Gohil, founder of the Silver Bells and Amarjyoti Saraswati International schools, Bhavnagar were conferred the EW Outstanding Achievement in Education Leadership Award 2018 with specially written citations.

The highlight of the two-day awards presentation ceremony was a Live Keynote Broadcast from USA — Scaling Students from Hundreds to Hundreds of Thousands — An Innovator’s Toolkit to Avoid Extinction in the Digital Age. The keynote broadcast orchestrated by Shivram Venkatasubramaniam, an alum of IIM-Calcutta and MIT’s Sloan School of Management and currently CEO of Edfinity, a Silicon Valley-based online learning firm which serves over 500,000 K-12 and college students in 25 countries, featured renowned online education gurus including Dr. R. Shankar, professor of physics at Yale University whose online physics lectures have attracted over 20 million student viewers; Ted Hill, head of Chadwick International School, USA/ Korea, and Raymond Ravaglia, founder of the highly acclaimed Stanford University Online High School and former associate dean of Stanford University’s Pre-Collegiate Studies.

EW India School Rankings Awards 2018-19Also on the agenda was launch of the ELITE (Emerging Leaders in Innovation, Technology and Education) Rankings 2018-19 in association with Edfinity, USA which tested the students and teachers of 300 participating schools in online and specially-designed tests (see pg. 88), and conferment of the EW India Grand Jury Awards 2018-19 which were introduced in 2016. Over 60 low-profile and/or newly promoted schools were ranked and assessed in 11 categories by a specially constituted jury of eminent educationists, and conferred jury awards during EWISR Awards (see p.80).
