The Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) has moved the Supreme Court seeking inclusion of resident doctors’ opinion in crucial matters.
This comes in the wake of a directive to constitute the National Task Force (NTF) to look into the modalities related to the safety of medical professionals and healthcare workers at workplaces.
The directive to constitute the nine-member NTF was issued earlier this week as Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra, were hearing the Kolkata case where a female medico was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The NTF is headed by Surgeon Vice Admiral RK Sarian. On board are also noted medical professionals like Dr Nageshwar Reddy, Managing Director, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and Dr M Srinivas, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
FAIMA in its appeal has sought that even resident doctors be consulted as they have experience when it comes to real-time routine problems and might be able to offer real-time solutions.
