Father urges visa expedition after Indian student’s accident in USA

The father of an Indian student studying in the United States of America has sought help from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for expediting his visa process following the involvement of his daughter in an accident.

The incident requires him to travel to the US at the earliest.

The incident came to light after Working president of the National Congress Party Supriya Sule wrote on X (formerly Twitter), seeking the intervention of the Indian Embassy and minister of external affairs Dr S Jaishankar.

“Student Neelam Shinde has met with an accident in the USA and is hospitalized in a local hospital. Her father, Tanaji Shinde, from Satara, Maharashtra, India, urgently needs to visit his daughter due to a medical emergency. Tanaji Shinde has applied for an urgent visa to the USA and requires assistance. Requesting Hon. @DrSJaishankar Ji,  @meaMADAD , and @IndianEmbassyUS to kindly look into the matter and help,” she wrote on the social media platform.

Meanwhile, news agency ANI reported that this was being investigated by the MEA. “Accident of Indian student Neelam Shinde in the US | MEA has taken up the matter. The US side is looking into the formalities for an early grant of visa for the applicant’s family: Sources,” the tweeted.
