G20 Summit

Recognizing the significance of investing in human capital development, the G20 pledged on Saturday to utilize digital technologies to bridge digital divides among learners and to assist educational institutions and educators in staying abreast of emerging trends and technological advancements.

In their Leaders’ Declaration, G20 members expressed support for the promotion of open, fair, and secure scientific collaboration while advocating for the mobility of students, scholars, researchers, and scientists across various research and higher education institutions.

The Declaration underlines the commitment to provide inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education and skills training to all, especially those in vulnerable circumstances. It acknowledges the importance of foundational learning, such as literacy, numeracy, and socioemotional skills, as the fundamental basis for education and employment.

Furthermore, the Declaration stresses the importance of expanding access to high-quality Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and reiterates the commitment to leverage digital technologies to bridge digital divides and support educational institutions and teachers in adapting to emerging trends and technological advancements, including Artificial Intelligence (AI).
