Geetali Gupta from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, has secured All India Rank 1 in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026, becoming the first girl in five years to top the national law entrance examination. She has also recorded the highest score in the history of CLAT, with 112.75 out of 120, or nearly 94 per cent.
While female participation in CLAT has grown steadily in recent years, the top rank has remained largely out of reach for women. Gupta’s result marks a notable development in gender representation at the highest level of legal education admissions.
Gupta prepared exclusively through Toprankers LegalEdge’s Classroom Contact Program, following a classroom-based and mentor-led approach. Speaking on her preparation, she credited the guidance of her teachers and the support of her family.
Her parents highlighted the importance of structured academic mentoring, particularly for students preparing outside metropolitan centres, and acknowledged the role played by the LegalEdge faculty in her preparation.
Commenting on the outcome, Harsh Gagrani, Co-founder and Chief Academic Officer of Toprankers LegalEdge, said the result reflected the institute’s academic process and focus on consistent guidance and effort across all students.
Education observers note that Gupta’s achievement reflects wider changes in competitive exam preparation, with increased access to classroom learning and mentoring for students from tier-2, tier-3 and tier-4 cities.
CLAT is among India’s most competitive entrance examinations, serving as the gateway to the National Law Universities (NLUs). Each year, tens of thousands of candidates compete for a limited number of seats, making a top rank a rare outcome. Gupta’s performance stands out both for its score and its wider implications for future law aspirants across the country.
