A school bus overturned in South Goa on Thursday morning, resulting in injuries to fourteen students, with four of them sustaining serious injuries, according to a senior police official.
The incident occurred near Balli village as the bus, carrying 34 students on its way to Cuncolim United Higher Secondary School, veered off the main road and flipped over in a field. The bus was part of the state government’s ‘Bal Rath’ program sanctioned for the school.
Four seriously injured students were promptly transferred to the state-run District Hospital in Margao town, with their conditions reported as stable. Additionally, ten students suffered minor injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the bus’s steering wheel got locked for some reason, causing it to veer off the road and overturn in a nearby field.
