– Niru Agarwal, Managing Trustee, Greenwood High International School
At Greenwood High, we believe that true education lies in the harmonious development of the mind, body, and spirit. Our mission has always been to nurture individuals who are not only academically accomplished but also physically agile, emotionally grounded, and socially responsible.
In a world driven by change and competition, the emphasis on academic excellence remains paramount but never in isolation. We consciously balance rigorous scholastic pursuits with co-curricular and athletic experiences to provide our students with holistic education.
This term, we saw this vision come to life through a series of events and initiatives that offered our students opportunities to shine in multiple dimensions. Each milestone, whether on stage, on the field, or in the classroom, reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to holistic education.
Wellbeing took centre stage on World Yoga Day, where over 250 students and 100 parents came together in a powerful celebration of mindfulness, movement, and community spirit. The event was the culmination of a month-long build-up that actively engaged families, even during the holidays, through activities like wellness-centred meditation and expression. This initiative reflected our core belief that physical and emotional well-being is a shared responsibility, best nurtured through collective participation and conscious practice.
Creativity and collaboration were found in our celebration of World Music Day, where students and faculty transformed our auditorium into a stage for rhythm, harmony, and soulful expression. These artistic moments not only uplifted spirits but also instilled confidence and joy, qualities essential to mental well-being and academic resilience.
Our inaugural science festival, Catalyst, ignited a powerful wave of curiosity, creativity, and scientific temper among young minds from schools across the region. Designed to take science beyond the confines of the classroom, the event immersed students in a vibrant world of hands-on experiments, interactive exhibitions, and real-world problem-solving challenges. Catalyst was not merely a festival, it was a dynamic celebration of exploration, where imagination collided with inquiry, and science came alive as a tool for understanding, innovation, and change. It inspired students to think like scientists, question like innovators, and engage with learning as an exciting, ever-evolving journey.
Athleticism and sportsmanship were on full display as Greenwood High hosted the CISCE Pre-Subroto Cup Football Tournament, CISCE Zonal Badminton Tournament, and the CISCE Karnataka & Goa Regional Chess Tournament. The latter saw record-breaking participation. 7 of our students qualified for the National Championship, the highest from any single school. These achievements underscore the life lessons learned on the field and on the board: resilience, focus, teamwork, and strategic thinking. As our athletes progressed from interschool to zonal to regional levels, we witnessed how the rising standard of competition continues to elevate performance across the entire academic-sports landscape, challenging students to push their boundaries and thrive under pressure.
Equally inspiring was the display of intellectual and oratory excellence at the Fr. George Hess Literary Competition, which welcomed participants from 71 schools across Karnataka. Greenwood’s student representatives emerged as torchbearers of expression and insight, earning the honour of advancing to the national stage in Ahmedabad.
Each event reflects a school culture that champions academic excellence, celebrates personal growth, and ignites a lifelong passion for learning, shaping not just achievers, but thoughtful, empowered individuals ready to make a difference.
Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to the Whole Child
At Greenwood High, the philosophy to nurture not just the intellect, but also the emotional, social, and physical well-being of every child is deeply embedded in our school’s culture and curriculum. A student who learns to command a stage, lead on a sports field, or debate with clarity is also a student who approaches academics with confidence and discipline.
Our approach remains rooted in inclusion, community participation, and the fostering of lifelong learners. Every yoga pose held, every note sung, every goal scored, and every idea debated form part of the educational mosaic we offer at Greenwood High.
In everything we do, our goal is not just to prepare students for the next exam—but to prepare them for life. We prepare them to be leaders who uplift others, thinkers who question the status quo, and human beings who contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
We remain grateful to our parents, faculty, and students for their unwavering belief in this shared vision. Let us continue to work together – educators, families, and learners alike – to create a generation that not only achieves but uplifts, not only competes but collaborates, and not only dreams but builds.
