Greenwood High International School has donated 250 student chairs and desks to government-run schools in Nerige Gram Panchayat, Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru.
Further, the school also proposes to donate bluetooth speakers, flags and boards to government schools soon.
The furniture sets were presented to panchayat members and representatives from 11 surrounding villages.
“School infrastructure plays an extremely significant role in empowering students for a better future. An initiative like this will go a long way in helping students in realizing their dream. We are grateful to Greenwood High for this noble initiative,” said a representative from local taluk.
Speaking on the occasion, Niru Agarwal, Trustee, Greenwood High International School said: “We believe in inculcating values of benevolence and philanthropy among our students, and we too practice the same. Students are excited at doing their bit to help those in need. We all have our commitments towards society that have stood by us since the very beginning.”
In the past, during the Uttarakhand floods, the students had raised an amount of Rs 50 Lakh along with food, clothing to alleviate the suffering of the victims. The school had also come forward to do their bit during the Chennai floods. During the pandemic, the school had undertaken the initiative to supply free meals for underprivileged families every day and distributed them in the local community. Furthermore, various programmes in the school encourages and engages students in community services like helping orphanages, slums, elderly etc.
