Karan Gokul Seshadri, a 16-year-old Grade 11 IBDP student at Greenwood High International School, Sarjapur, made his school immensely proud by securing the All India Runner-up position in the Under-19 Men’s Category at the 1st NSCI Heyball National Championship 2025, hosted recently by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Maharashtra (BSAM) and sponsored by the Sports Authority of India.
With this stellar performance, Karan has not only claimed the India #2 ranking in this rapidly emerging cue sport but has also earned the distinction of qualifying to represent India at the World Championship.
Heyball, also known as Chinese 8-Ball Pool, is one of the fastest-growing cue sports worldwide and is anticipated to become an Olympic sport by 2032. Unlike traditional 8-Ball Pool, Heyball is played on tables with tighter pockets, demanding greater precision, skill, and strategy.
The Delhi championship saw over 350 entries across boys, girls, women’s, and men’s categories, making Karan’s achievement even more remarkable. Adding to his impressive profile, Karan also holds a Guinness World Record for achieving 2,109 consecutive loops of a ball with a Pindaloo in 2019 – a testament to his persistence, focus, and talent.
Reflecting on his recent success, Karan said, “The lessons the table has taught me – testing my abilities under high-pressure situations and guiding me to choose the right shot from among countless options – are lessons I wish to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
Greenwood High believes in nurturing well-rounded excellence. Our students are encouraged to pursue their passions beyond academics, striking a healthy balance between intellectual growth and extracurricular pursuits. Karan’s journey embodies this philosophy— proving that with the right encouragement, students can truly excel both in the classroom and on the world stage.
Greenwood High celebrates Karan’s remarkable success and looks forward to watching him represent India at the international level, inspiring his peers to pursue their dreams with equal determination.
