The football team of Greenwood High beat Government Sports School 2-0 in the finals of the Mahindra Football Inter-school Championship held at the Bangalore Football Stadium on November 9. A total of 53 schools participated in the tournament with Greenwood High emerging as the winning team in the finals. Aryamaan and Rishabh scored the match-winning goals for Greenwood High.
Congratulating the team on its success, Ms. Niru Agarwal, chairman of Greenwood High, said the team embodied the true spirit of the tournament – that of encouraging football at the grassroot levels. “While the nation constantly promotes the game of cricket, we believe in encouraging a range of sports at our school. Seeing our students reach such competitive levels is an assertion that we are moving in the right direction.”
The final match was a nail biter with both teams giving it their best, cheered by enthusiastic student supporters from both schools.
