Hearing on petition seeking CBI probe into Bois Locker Room adjourned

Bois Locker Room

The Delhi High Court has adjourned the hearing on a petition seeking an SIT or CBI probe into the ‘Bois Locker Room‘ case to May 18. The social media group was used allegedly by a bunch of schoolboys to share objectionable pictures of minor girls. The petition filed by Dev Ashish Dubey through advocates Dushyant Tiwari and Omprakash Parihar also sought protection to the girls and women who leaked the alleged criminal activities in the group. According to NDTV, the petition stated that the group is run by and has membership of 16 to 18-year-old boys from posh schools in South Delhi, all of whom were involved in the objectification of their classmates and other women, some as young as 14 years of age. “The offence committed by these students through the group is illegal and amounts to violation of various laws of India. Morphing photos and sharing images of people’s private parts is a violation of Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, as well as Section 354C of the Indian Penal Code,” it said.

The plea also said that the issue should be investigated by SIT or CBI as these students are from high profile families and there are chances of the local police being influenced and wrongdoers never being arrested and punished. The division bench of Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw and Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal will hear the case on May 18.

Meanwhile, an investigation into the Bois Locker Room case has revealed that a juvenile girl had created a fake account and allegedly sent lewd comments and suggested a boy to sexually assault her to test his ‘values and character’ on Snapchat, said the police. The devices of the juveniles have been seized and sent to forensics. The police said that the conversation that happened on Snapchat has got nothing to do with Bois locker room.

Anyesh Roy, Deputy Commissioner of Police (CyPAD) told The Hindu that a screenshot of a one-to-one conversation on Snapchat shows a profile in the name of Siddharth, suggesting a plan to sexually assault a girl. Siddharth’s profile was created by a girl. She then suggested a boy to sexually assault her, said the police. The DCP added that the boy has denied any participation in any such plan and stopped communicating with the girl. He took screenshots of the conversations and circulated it among his friends including that girl. One of the persons then posted it on Instagram and it went viral. The police said when the screenshots from Bois Locker Room got viral on social media, the Snapchat conversations got mixed up along with it. They added that they would not be registering any case against the boy or girl as they are juveniles.
