Hello All Parents! Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor gush about the pleasures of parenting. The media, now and always, loves highlighting happy parent-child photos and stories. Yet down-to-earth parents know that parenting is not quite the joyride it’s made out to be. Sure, there are moments of joy, tenderness and pride, but children’s tantrums, bedtime battles and fussy dietary habits take up far more parental energy than is usually broadcast. That’s why when friends and family members ask why I can’t solve my own parenting problems even as I write books and articles on parenting, I tell them that life is a long journey that is so dynamic and ever-changing that there are no magic solutions or answers. While it’s arguable that anything written about parenting helps some parents, it’s pertinent to bear in mind that advice is open to interpretation and application according to varying parenting styles, situations and your children’s personalities. As parents, we face problems and situations of children of varying ages, stages, and attitudes. But a statement that always brings comfort is: “This stage will pass.” Hope springs eternal that things will improve. Also it’s comforting to know that most parents experience the same or similar problems. And to learn that the joy and pride your children bring to you, is entirelv your own.
