ICAT, Chennai is managed by Image Infotainment Ltd, a pioneer in the field of Digital Media Education and Digital Media content development and has remained steadfast in its focus ever since its establishment in 1996.
ICAT became India’s largest Digital Media College with the establishment of state-of-the-art campuses at Hyderabad and Bangalore in 2008. In 2006, ICAT obtained accreditation for degree courses in Animation, Visual FX, Game Design & Game Development from The University of Wales, UK and launched India’s first undergraduate degree courses in Digital Media.
ICAT maintains excellent rapport with leading Animation, Visual FX and Gaming companies in the country, thereby facilitating lucrative offers for the graduating students. The Placement department stays in touch with the HR Managers & Project Managers of the companies in assessing the feedback of students’ performance and attitude at the work place. This approach has won the appreciation of many of the institute’s placement partners and campus recruiters.
ICAT has large spacious classrooms which can accommodate 30 to 60 students. Every classroom has a digital projector connected to the instructor’s systems. The institute offers air-conditioned computer labs equipped with latest software.
The library features a large variety of information sources – from textbooks and periodicals to international database and access to the internet.
The campus also houses an air-conditioned seminar hall equipped with projector, sophisticated light and sound system and internet connection which can accommodate 200 – 250 students.
The college hosts a studio floor with Green/Blue Matte equipped with latest digital HD Camera, studio lights and accessories and also a post production studio equipped with editing suit with digitizing facilities.
The college houses a number of art studios with drawing tables, Light Box, with facilities for live modeling and abundance of natural light essential for art environment. A Design Studio with big tables, cutting mats and plenty of lights and space to move around is another highlight of ICAT Chennai campus.

LabsAdmission for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs is based on an aptitude test, and a personal interview.
Send filled inapplicationform and two passport size photographs to the chosen campus (Chennai, Banglore and Hyderabad) along with a DD for Rs.750 in favour of ICAT, payable at the chosen campus. College prospectus along with the hall ticket for the aptitude test will be sent either through post or by e-mail. Alternatively, application form along with prospectus can be obtained from the college campus in person by cash.
Date and venue will be intimated by post or by e-mail. Personal interview will be conducted for those who qualify in the "Aptitude Test". A Creative Portfolio can be presented during the interview to improve probability of selection. Though not mandatory the college recommends it.
Admission of the selected candidates will be confirmed only after the payment of admission fees (non-refundable) and verification of academic documents as per norms. In some cases ‘conditional’ admission may be given (at sole discretion of the college).

In 2010, the institute became the Technology, Content Development and Delivery Partner for VIT University.
In 2009, the institute obtained strategic technical collaboration with Annamalai University to offer B.Sc. Multimedia and B.Sc. Digital Media programs. ICAT is rated as No.1 Animation & Gaming College in India by The Week – AC Nielsen Survey.
In 2007 ICAT bagged the NASSCOM super pitch award for Original Animated Content.
