ICFAI University, Jaipur hosted its 4th Convocation ceremony at the university campus in Jamdoli, on Sunday, March 17. The chief guest for the occasion was Padma Shri A. S. Kiran Kumar, former chairman, ISRO.
The convocation ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries Prof. (Dr.) R.P. Kaushik, chairperson of ICFAI University, Prof (Dr.) H P Singh VSM, president of ICFAI University along with Board of Management and Academic Council members.
Chief guest Shri A S Kiran Kumar, congratulated all the graduating students for having achieved a landmark through excellent academic performance. He enlightened the students stating how science and technology has revolutionised the world and motivated them by emphasising that advancement in science and technology should be used to improve the lives of fellow beings and benefit the society at large. It was heartening to learn how the ISRO has evolved over the last four decades and has emerged as one of the few countries in the world with an end to end capability of building rockets, satellites and payloads. He made a special mention and appreciated the ICFAI Group for promoting and providing quality education in remote areas, especially the North East.
Dr. Kiran Kumar also said, “India has demonstrated its capabilities to carry out significant extra-terrestrial activities of exploring and soft landing on Moon using innovative and cost effective approaches. Its efforts have drawn international attention and appreciation. It is planning to further carry out human space flight activities and build space station and land humans on the moon.”
He added, “India, which is currently one of the largest economies in the world (fifth) and has its sight set for reaching the top of the ladder, is striving to make the best use of its potential to reach there. Space economy, which is expected to grow to a trillion dollars in the coming years, is beckoning India to build on its current space technology capability to becoming a significant player and benefit in the process. India is currently in the process of transforming itself from a space capable country to country with space technology capacity to provide solutions and services to self and others. This brings in a huge opportunity to the youth of the country to acquire knowledge and skills to develop solutions which are impactful and cost effective.”
“The world we live in is continuously changing and it is seen that the pace of change, life cycles of products and their impact durations are progressively shrinking resulting in a demand for changed approach. It is also seen that many of the approaches adopted to address a current issue has resulted in creation of environmental and ecological problems subsequently. In this context of sustainable development, addressing the needs of humanity on planet Earth gains importance and the significance of the thought processes of longest surviving civilisation in attaching great emphasis on treating nature with due respect emerges. India is not only unshackling itself from the burden of its centuries of external rule, but also emerging as a leader in showing the world the wisdom of its approach of sustainable life on planet earth demands more collaboration and less conflict.”
During the convocation ceremony, 552 students were awarded degrees for Ph.D., MBA, MCA BBA, B.Com (Hons.) B.Tech., BCA, B.Sc. (Hons.) B.A-LLB (Hons.),BBA-LLB (Hons.) and LLB programmes. The meritorious students were awarded gold and silver medals for their performance. 19 students from ICFAI Tech, 14 students from IBS, and 14 students from Law received gold and silver medals.
Prof. (Dr.) R.P. Kaushik congratulated all the students for their achievements and blessed them for a bright future. Prof (Dr) H P Singh VSM initiated the event with the annual report of the university and the welcome address. A large gathering of parents and 30 representatives from the industry and higher education sector attended the convocation.
ICFAI University, Jaipur was established under The ICFAI University, Jaipur Act, 2011 (Act No. 26 of 2011). Promoted by the ICFAI Society – a not-for-profit educational society established in 1984 – the university offers career oriented doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate academic programmes in Commerce and Management, Law, and Science & Technology.
