The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Thursday asked schools to utilise the time available before the ICSE and ISC examinations for conducting practical and project work classes, revising the syllabus and holding doubt clearing lessons for the board examinees.

In a circular issued to heads of all ICSE and ISC schools, Gerry Arathoon, CISCE secretary and chief executive  said that the schools will have to ensure that all candidates appearing in the ICSE and ISC examinations completed their project work and submitted them for evaluation when the respective state governments allowed students to attend the campuses. The practical files will have to be completed as per the prescribed and  reduced syllabus of the council.

“The schools are further advised to utilize the time available before the examinations effectively in all respects and in particular should ensure that the students of the Examination levels ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) complete their Project work and submit the same for Evaluation. The schools may plan to revise the syllabus and conduct doubt clearing lessons during the period,” Arathoon said in the circular.

The Council also advised the schools to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)  and norms of social distancing of the respective governments for conducting the classes.

“ Keeping in view of the fact that the Schools are being permitted to re-open gradually by their State/UT Governments, I write to inform you that while allowing children to attend the school, the Heads of the schools are advised  to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and norms of social distancing as per the directions given by the Central Government and the respective State/UT governments.,” the circular read.

The practical classes will have to be held in the laboratories in a staggered manner, the council said.

“ As the hands -on practical work  could not be carried out earlier due to the pandemic and lockdown, the schools are also advised to plan to conduct the Practical classes in the laboratories   for the candidates preparing for the ICSE and ISC 2021 Examinations ina staggered manner to ensure compliance with the social distancing norms and other safety measures,” the circular read.
