The 2025 ICSE (Class X ) examination will start on February 18 and the ISC (Class XII) examination on February 13, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) announced on Monday evening.
The ISC will start with environmental science and ICSE with English language paper. The Class X board examination will end on March 27 and the ISC on April 5.
As many as 1,00, 067 candidates have registered for ISC and 2,53,384 students for ICSE. The ICSE will be conducted in 2,803 schools and ISC from 1,461 schools, sources said.
The results of both examinations will be declared in May, the council said in the announcement to heads released to schools.
The CISCE will give 25 percent weightage to higher order thinking questions in ICSE and ISC from 2025, the council had said in August.
Teachers of a number of schools said all possible steps are being taken to prepare the students for the 2025 exams as for the first time they will have to answer 25 percent competency-based questions. The announcement of the exam schedule brought relief to students as they were eagerly waiting to make the final plans to prepare for the exams.
“From the Examination Year 2025, it is planned that approximately 25 % weightage will be given to higher order thinking questions targeting the learning domains of application, analysis, evaluation and creativity…” Joseph Emmanuel, chief executive and secretary of CISCE said in a circular issued to heads of schools in August.
Like every year the council has spelt out the details about the directions to be followed by the candidates in the exam hall during the examinations and the consequences students can face for adopting unfair means in the examination hall.
This year, schools have been asked to ensure proper CCTV surveillance to prevent unfair means during the exams.
“It may be noted that all the candidates appearing for the examination along with supervisory staff present in the examination hall/room will be under CCTV camera surveillance during the examination,” the council said in the announcement to the schools.
