The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will announce the dates of commencement of the ICSE (Class X ) and ISC ( XII) Semester 2 examinations after the announcement of the dates of IIT- JEE (Main) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Tests (NEET).
The council wants to announce the timetables of the Semester 2 exams after the National Testing Agency (NTA) declares the dates of the national entrance tests to ensure that the two exams do not coincide with the ICSE and ISC exams, Gerry Arathoon, secretary and chief executive of CISCE said on Friday.
He said this while virtually addressing the heads of ICSE and ISC schools at a two-day national conference of the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) at Jaipur.
The council had earlier announced that the Semester 2 exams will be conducted at the end of April.
A large number of the students appearing in the ISC Semester 2 exams will also write the All-India entrance tests like the IIT-JEE and NEET.
“These students will be inconvenienced to a great extent if the ISC math and science papers and the entrance exams are conducted on the same day. The council will declare the dates of the Semester 2 examinations after the announcement of the IIT-JEE and NEET dates so that our students do not face any problem,” Arathoon said.
The Semester 2 exams are scheduled in the last week of April and so there is sufficient time for the students to complete their revision.
He also said at the meeting that the council is yet to finalise whether it would continue the bifurcated examinations for the 2023 batch of ICSE and ISC students.
